Show & Seminar Schedule

A Few Words From Richard Wedler

Our fall season found the Woodworking Show itinerary returning to the West coast with shows in Houston, Costa Mesa, Sacramento, Portland and Denver. Most of you know that the western portion of the show circuit had been abandoned for the last two seasons by the previous show owner. We enjoyed seeing many of the returning attendees who came back to support the shows after this hiatus.

I tried a new seminar schedule with "Precision Routing Techniques" in the morning sessions and "Inlays" in the afternoons. Below is a description of each seminar. This seems to be working well and the plan will be to continue this format for the rest of this season. I hope you can come and participate in these free seminars.

Precision Routing Techniques: This seminar will cover a wide variety of router operations featuring the Micro Fence System for basic joinery, hardware installation, and architectural detailing. Topics including bit selection, speeds/feeds and depth-of-cut are covered.

Inlays made Easy: This discussion covers the various types of inlay used in furniture and cabinetry including planning, cutting, installing, and finishing. Discover how precision inlay techniques can bring added value and beauty to your projects.

Tips and Techniques

In this edition of "Tips and Techniques" we will offer suggestions for using the Maintenance Kit (shown above).

1. When cleaning either our regular or Micro Plunge Base, start by removing the external snap rings at the top of the chrome-plated posts. Squeezing the handles of the snap ring pliers together will expand the snap ring so that it can be removed from it's groove.
2. When both snap rings have been removed, the motor carriage and plunge springs can be removed. This will permit thorough cleaning of both the chrome posts and the inside of the bronze bushings with DynaGlide Plus.
3. Use one of the wool swabs sprayed with DynaGlide Plus to clean the inside surfaces of both bronze bushings. After wiping the swab clean, repeat until no further dirt or grime is seen collecting on the swab.
4. Apply DynaGlide to a paper/shop towel.
5. Wiping down the chrome posts with a paper or shop towel sprayed with DynaGlide will both clean and distribute the lubricant for complete coverage.
6. Though infrequently needed, a single drop of Phil Oil applied to the micrometer spindle will keep it operating smoothly. (Note: Excessive oil will only serve as a dust trap and cause a build-up of dirt and grime.) Apply an occasional single drop of Phil Oil under the spindle's locking thumbscrew.
7. On a frequent basis, spray the guide shafts of the Edge Guide and/or Circle Jig with DynaGlide Plus to keep them clean and smooth. If oxidation has occurred, scouring the stainless shafts with #0000 steel wool can bring back their lustre.
8. Wipe off excess DynaGlide with a paper towel and your tools will slide smoothly and last longer.

Dusting our tools with compressed air after each and every use can help insure optimal operation.

Show & Seminar Schedule

The Woodworking Shows are back in full swing and Micro Fence has been busy attending them. We've completed the west coast swing during the last couple of months and now it's time to head out east. Rich will be there with all new seminars that you will not want to miss (See "A few words from Richard Wedler" for more info). Also, there are always special offers from Micro Fence that are only available at the shows. You won't find these specials anywhere else, even on our website, so take advantage of them while you can. See the whole Woodworking Shows schedule below and you can always look where we will be heading out to next on our webiste (link below schedule). We hope to see you soon.
