Rich initially came to California in 1969 to pursue his career in music. Many of the people he initially met were musicians that are still friends today. Ever since the opening of his first commercial woodworking shop in 1980, a number of players have been meeting on a regular basis simply for the joy of playing together. Other friends and wives/girlfriends usually participate by bringing food and drink to make each meeting a celebration.

Wishing you a "Sawesome" Christmas everybody!

We hope you enjoy these tunes in your shop this holiday season. All of the Christmas carols were performed by the following...

Richard Wedler (Guitar/Saw)
Rich has been playing guitar for almost fifty years and musical saw for about 25... he needed something to do while glue was drying.

Evan Marshall (Mandolin)
Renowned mandolin and violin master, Evan plays in and around Los Angeles with a range of groups in an even wider range of musical genres. (Check him out on YouTube).

Randy Landas (Bass)
Randy has an impressive discography including recording with Burt Bacharach and currently performing with Rita Coolidge.

James Cruce (Percussion)
James has provided rhythm for almost everyone he knows.
Recorded at Rick Cunha's Rainbow Garage Studio

Eric Bikales (Hammond B3 Organ/Bass Flute on White Christmas)
Eric has been playing keyboards and flute for Neil Sedaka for about thirty years with hundreds of recording sessions with the likes of the Pointer sisters, Dolly Parton, Patty Labelle, Jeffry Osbourn, Cher, Bette Miller, Juice Newton, Olivia Newton-John, Melissa Manchester, Kenny Rogers, Tom Waits, and Mack Davis. His list of credits also include the following television shows, Hillstreet Blues, NYPD Blue, LA Law, Law & Order, The Tonight Show, and Good Morning America, to name a few.

The Band for Hot Toddy and Blue Christmas

Laurie Melan (Guitar)
Our gifted friend who excels on guitar and mouth harp who composed and played for That 70's Show

Don Preston (Guitar)
Don's credits include long tenures in the bands of Leon Russell and Ricky Nelson, with many live performances with the likes of Joe Cocker, George Harrison and Eric Clapton. Don's been a stalwart member of our Wednesday night jam group for twenty-five years.

Jim Varley (Drums)
A brilliant session drummer and Neil Sedaka band member for longer than he'll admit, James has played cardboard boxes with our Wednesday group.

The Woodshop Band: Live! at the Rainbow Garage

Just this Last September 3rd, one of the participants who has a home studio invited the ensemble to record some songs typical to our songbook which we’d like to share with you, our Micro Fence family. Titled “The Woodshop Band/ Live at the Rainbow Garage” here’s an album’s worth of songs we like to play. Each song is the first take…nothing has been edited save the banter between tunes. In this collection the band members are…

Randy Landas (Bass)
Randy is a full-time musician currently touring with Rita Coolidge and Helen Reddy. His list of credits as a bass player are impressive as are his skills in making upright electric basses (you can see some of his work in our Gallery section).

Don Preston (Electric Guitar/Vocals)
For those of you familiar with the Leon Russell/Joe Cocker “Mad Dogs and Englishmen” tour in the ‘70’s, Don was the lead guitar player. You can also spot him in the footage for the “Concert for Bangladesh playing alongside George Harrison and Eric Clapton. He recently recorded a tribute album to JJ Cale with Mr. Clapton. We find his playing both brilliant and inspirational.

Craig Eastman (Violin)
Hailing from New England, Craig has an arm-length of recording credits with the likes of Hans Zimmer and Elton John.

Lance Billitzer (Mandolin/Vocals)
A bluegrass sevant who began playing in San Fransisco back in the 70’s, Lance later moved to Los Angeles and began a long career as a camera operator for a string of Jim Burrough’s television classics like Cheers, Frazier, and Will and Grace (to name only a few). He’s never stopped playing the mandolin.

Rich Wedler (Acoustic Guitar/Vocals)
A folk musician in Ohio during the 1960’s, Rich played coffee houses throughout the Midwest and Canada and opened for greats such as Judy Collins and Josh White. He traveled West in 1970 to Los Angeles to join a group called Maffitt and Davies which recorded with Capital Records.

Rick Cunha (Acoustic Guitar/Vocals)
One of the most recent additions to the Woodshop Band, Rick has worked with many different people including Mason Williams and Jennifer Warnes. His talents as a recording engineer were responsible for this CD.
