A Word About Prices
For those of you who’ve been our customers for the last 29 years, we offer a heartfelt thank you for your business. So many of you who’ve joined our family have become friends, and we are grateful for the support you’ve given us that enabled us to continue producing the Micro Fence System.
If I’d known in the beginning how difficult it would be to bring a niche tool like ours to market and to survive the economics of a world gone off-shore, I might have avoided the challenge. But I was a naive musician-turned-furniture-maker and thought the concept could catch on. Now almost 30 years later, I’m glad I did.
From the first decision to invest in a parts inventory made entirely in local machine shops and in my own cabinet shop, the plan was to make a high-quality tool that made a difference in woodworking. Over the three decades since, we’ve added a fair number of other tools to expand our line. Each time the goal was to design and build the highest quality version of devices that brought significant improvement to some function(s) that I encountered in my commissioned woodwork (I invite you to visit RichardWedler.com for a scrapbook view of the last 50-some years).
To this day, our product line is made stateside here in Los Angeles and is assembled on a custom-order basis to fit the router of our customer’s choice. We care about the quality and function of every tool that leaves our shop, as well as the experience of the customers who buy them. The tools are made to last a lifetime.
We’ve currently begun shooting a video of all the steps involved in the making of Micro Fence and hope to have it completed sometime later this year. Somehow, I think seeing what’s involved in manufacturing and putting the tools together might help explain the price level.
Regarding that topic, due to unprecedented increases in the cost of our parts, I’m forced to announce that we’ll be raising many of our retail prices within the next month or two. We’d like to offer an opportunity for all subscribers to take advantage of current prices before the increases.
